Explore and learn about sculpting with paper clay in this hands-on workshop led by ceramic artist Brenda Tarbell. Paper clay feels and works similarly to regular clay but it can be molded, modelled, slabbed and coiled in ways that seem to break all the rules of working with clay. It is lighter in weight, difficult to warp; sculptors extol its flexibility and forgiveness. Paper pulp in the clay enables the artist to join multiple forms when they are nearly dry to avoid distortion. Simple tools are used to form and shape the work.
